  • Gordon Robson

    Founding Director
Gordon is a pioneer of combining innovative technology with media. He invented telephone voting by broadcast and print media, a concept which continues to be used worldwide in TV shows such as American Idol and the Eurovision Song Contest. He created Legion Group and formed joint ventures with media groups all over the world. Legion was acquired by Matra Hachette. Gordon formed Stream with Michael Spencer in 1999 and they steered the company to a UK London Stock Market listing in 2001. Handheld is his latest venture in a career that has included close relationships with News Corporation, Bauer, Bertlesman, and many other global media giants.
  • Michael Spencer

    Founding Director
Michael worked in senior marketing positions for Arcadia PLC (formerly The Burton Group), was a director of QVC at launch before being headhunted to launch The Disney Channel in the UK. Following a number of years at Disney he established his own marketing consultancy business, with Sky TV, Channel 4 and Disney as founding clients before co-founding Stream Group PLC, a digital publishing & media company, with Gordon. After their successful 7 years at Stream they have continued their collaboration in Handheld Company.
  • Val Hudson

    Publishing Director
Val Hudson has been an entrepreneurial publisher for over twenty-five years. She began her career at Century Hutchinson and since then has published numerous bestsellers at Angus & Robertson (where she published the first blockbuster tv tie-in 'Neighbours') and HarperCollins (where she commissioned Pamela Stephenson's ground-breaking bestselling biography 'Billy') and Hachette (Headline). Most recently she has written a number one bestseller and co-founded a new worldwide writing prize. She is now writing and editing in association with The Viney Agency, and is looking to the real future with Handheld Books.
  • Phil Robinson

    Creative Director
Phil has been at the forefront of print and digital design for over twenty years, most recently being part of the team that developed the award winning app for The Sunday Times. Prior to joining the Sunday Times Phil was Art Director for Bliss magazine and Deputy Art Director at Mizz magazine where he oversaw the major sea change in print – the final heyday of teen magazines and the beginning of celebrity driven content. Now with those magazines gone and celebrity culture becoming bite-sized online, there is a new future, but one with the same values as print – great design and great content, but digitally. Handheld provides the perfect platform for Phil to explore this brand new world.
